This Conference discussed the findings of recent research on impact of global slowdown on India’s exports and employment by UNCTAD’s India project to identify appropriate policy options and mitigating strategies for the industry and trade. The conference was attended by policy makers; researchers; practitioners; representatives of industry and trade and trade experts.

DFID-funded UNCTAD’s India project, New Delhi organised a series of events on 12th June 2009. These events were a part of activities related to World Trade Week UK.

The main objectives of the three day conference was to discuss the findings of recent research on trade –poverty linkages by UNCTAD-India project; deliberate on research on this issue in other countries; and debate on the policy directions which emerge.
